A Year at a School

The Japanese school year starts in April and ends in March.
Some schools work on a two-semester system, and some schools have trimesters. Sendai Public Elementary Schools operate on a two-semester-a-year system.
Long breaks during the year are Summer vacation, Fall vacation, Winter vacation, and Spring vacation.
The Japanese school system does not allow children to skip school years. In addition, children are unable repeat the same year of school.
