COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Case Confirmed（新型コロナウイルス感染症の患者の発生について） (March 30th, 2020)
On Monday, March 30, 2020 around 8:30a.m., one COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) case was confirmed in Sendai City. This is the fifth case in Miyagi Prefecture, following the 2 cases identified in the Sendai City on March 29.
On Friday, March 20 (national holiday), this patient spent time (eating and drinking) with the two persons who were confirmed on Friday, March 27 in Akita Prefecture to have contracted COVID-19. As the persons from Akita Prefecture contacted this patient on Saturday, March 28 and said that they had been infected with COVID-19, the patient then called the Consultation Center for Returnees/Persons who Contacted Infected Individuals that same day. The patient had a fever and a sore throat on Saturday, March 28, and after visiting the Outpatient Service for Returnees/Persons who Contacted Infected Individuals and being tested on Sunday, March 29, they were confirmed positive for COVID-19 today at 8:30a.m.
They are currently hospitalized in a Registered Medical Institution for Infectious Diseases, but is in a stable, non-critical condition. We will check on their activities and collect information of persons who had close contact with the patient, as well as conduct health monitoring.
As there has been a newly-confirmed infection of a person who visited the same establishment for the second day in a row, we ask that you contact the call center at 022-221-3883 if you visited HUB Sendai Ichibancho-Yonchome Branch on either March 20 or March 21, regardless of what time you visited the establishment or whether or not you are symptomatic.
