Notice from Sendai City about the “Emergency Support Benefit for Rising Prices of Electricity, Gas, Food, etc.” /仙台市からの「電力・ガス・食料品等価格高騰緊急支援給付金」についてのお知らせ

This benefit is provided to households that are exempt from resident tax and other low-income households whose finances are particularly affected by the increased burden caused by the recent rise in prices in electricity, gas, food, etc.

●How much does the benefit provide?
50,000 yen per household

●Who is eligible for the benefit?
Households that are registered in Sendai City as of September 30, 2022 and that meet either one of the following criteria are eligible for the benefit.

①Households exempt from resident tax in FY2022
Households in which all members are exempt from per capita resident tax in FY2022 (with some exceptions) *Includes households on welfare

②Households facing a sudden change in finances
Households that have faced an unexpected decrease in income between January and December 2022 and are experiencing financial conditions similar to households that are exempt from resident tax

※Among households described in ① and ② above, households composed only of dependents of a person subject to resident tax are not eligible for the benefit. Households in which a member has filed a notification for exemption from resident tax under a tax convention are also not eligible for the benefit.

●How and by when should I apply for the benefit?
①In the case of households exempt from resident tax in FY2022
Sendai City will begin sending out the necessary documents for application in November 2022.
If you receive the documents and meet the eligibility criteria, fill in the Confirmation Form and return the form by post to Sendai City.
Residents who have moved to Sendai City on or after January 2, 2022 will receive a notice postcard regarding the benefit. If you meet the eligibility criteria, please call the hotline printed on the postcard to have the application documents sent to you.

②In the case of households facing a sudden change in finances
The application documents are available at Ward Offices, General Branch Offices, and Sendai International Center.
You can also have them sent to you by calling the “Hotline for Emergency Support Benefit for Rising Prices of Electricity, Gas, Food, etc.” shown below.
Fill in the necessary information and return the Application Form along with the required documents using the supplied return envelope.

The deadline for application is January 31, 2023 (Tues.).
