6-1 Mrs. Asanova Gulzar (Kyrgyzstan)

Hello! My name is Asanova, and I am an international student enjoying “maternity life” for the first time. It’s nice to meet you!

When I first found out I was pregnant, I was so happy I cried. But to tell the truth, I was also bewildered. I was far away from my home country in Sendai, I was studying as an international student, and I was a member of SIRA’s* Sendai International Student Program**. I had a lot going on. I was really worried whether I could do everything by myself.

But I got advice from the Japanese and foreign mothers around me and decided to be optimistic. Of course there were things that didn’t go well, but I am blessed with wonderful friends at school and at SIRA, and I gradually progressed in my studies and activities. Before I knew it, I was in my 10th month of pregnancy. Now I spend every day doing the things I want to do while I am still pregnant.

That means going on a walk every day! I’ve heard that after giving birth it’s hard to get out, so I’m enjoying going on dates with my husband, going out to lunch with my friends, and going shopping.

I also think that once my baby is born, it will be hard to find time for myself, so I’m reading books, watching movies and relaxing now.

The weather is about to get colder in February, and pregnant women get cold easily. I’ll do my best to keep warm and deliver my baby safely!

Thank you for reading my story.
