INTRODUCTIONEstablished in 2002, the African Association of Miyagi is a group for amity among Africans living in Miyagi Prefecture and the Tohoku region. Our group is mainly composed of the 56 international students at Tohoku University. Besides from providing support for international students in terms of living in Japan and career development, we also contribute to the local community through activities such as visiting elderly homes, hosting workshops, and organizing the “African Cultural Exchange/African Business Seminar” which showcases the abundant cultures in Africa.
During the pandemic, we organized activities such as inviting alumni and experts to host webinars and online cooking classrooms, in order to support and stay connected to our local community.
