PURPOSE OF FOUNDATIONIn this world which is overflowing with diversity, AFS wants to cultivate citizens in the community who have a sense of responsibility and can be active in promoting peace and mutual understanding. In order to impress on people the knowledge, abilities, and understanding required to realize a just and peaceful world, we aim to provide opportunities to come into contact with a variety of foreign cultures.
INTRODUCTIONAFS Japan is a pioneer in the exchange of high school students with around 100 different countries, with programs including long-term exchanges of 6 to 11 months and short-term exchanges of 1 month. By coming into contact with foreign cultures through “everyday life,” program participants can experience the differences in culture and come to respect them. And through these experiences, participants will be able to expand their viewpoints, develop a flexible way of thinking that isn’t held back by stereotypes, gain confidence, and improve their ability to cooperate together with people from other cultures. Many participants who first become involved in this program come to understand the importance of respecting foreign cultures and diversity.
PRBeing able to watch over high school students and see how much they mature during their exchange period is a real pleasure for volunteers. It is also greatly motivating to meet everyone in the host families and host schools. Please come and help us with activities as a staff member.
