The City of Sendai is giving cash to people in order to help them raise their newborn babies.

【Eligible Newborn Babies】
Newborn babies born between April 28, 2020 and April 1, 2021, who were registered in Sendai’s Resident Register at birth.

【Eligible Persons (who receives the cash)】
Mothers who live with and take care of the eligible newborn baby. If the mother is unable to apply, it can also be guardians such as the father who live with and take care of the newborn baby.

【Cash】
50,000 yen for each eligible newborn baby.

【How to Apply】
①The City of Sendai will send an application form and return envelope to eligible persons. If a Registration of Birth has not yet been submitted to the City of Sendai, then the application will be sent about one month after the Registration of Birth has been submitted.
※The application form may also be downloaded from the City of Sendai website.
②Together with the application form, please also mail a copy of a form of identification (residence card, health insurance card, driver’s license, etc.) and a copy of a bank book, etc. so that money can be deposited in an account.
※After applying, the City of Sendai will screen the application. If eligible for the cash payment, the money will be deposited after about 1 month.
