| PURPOSE OF FOUNDATION | Our goals are, through the mutual cooperation of Japanese and German people, to deepen the exchanges in both cultures, in the fields of scientific technology and economic communication. We hope to contribute to the understanding and friendship of both countries. |
| INTRODUCTION | The Japan and Germany Association in Sendai organizes and supports numerous events throughout the year, including seminars about Germany, film meetings, and Oktoberfest. We also publish and distribute our newsletter, Guten Tag once a year. At the Sendai Japan-Germany Association Culture Centre, we run German language courses, putting our efforts into German language education. Please feel free to contact us if you have an interest in German culture or the German language. |
| PR | On January 24, 1861, Prussia and Japan concluded a treaty of amity and commerce. 2021 marks the 160th anniversary of this exchange. As a commemorative project, our group held an exhibition for precious pieces of art which feature scenery from the Edo period by a German artist who was traveling together with an expeditionary force at the time (in 1861). Additionally, in 2022 the German ambassador held a lecture meeting covering relationships with Japan based on present-day difficulties and issues. （Updated date：July 27, 2023） |
