PURPOSE OF FOUNDATIONFormed in Sendai as the world’s first ever public UNESCO Association after WW2 by those who in resonated with the principals of UNESCO. Since then, over the last 73 years we have been conducting activities to attain world peace.
INTRODUCTIONAs the world’s first public UNESCO group, our history reaches back 73 years, with the previous 6 years as a public interest foundation.
Our main activities include the promotion of UNESCO world heritage locations, the World Terakoya Movement (literacy education support), passing on future regional heritage, and SDGs (creating a sustainable society).
In solid terms we hold UNESCO college lectures and Public UNESCO Activities Day, as well as SALON& ZOOM meetings jointly online. We also plan to hold the 24th Children’s Drawing Competition from January 16 to 21. We also conduct Chinese language lectures on Saturdays 3 times per month. Furthermore, in FY 2022 we established the Tungaru UNESCO Association in the Republic of Kiribati.
PRAs we were unable to participate in activities due to the pandemic, but from August we have been conducting “Salon and Zoom”online events. In total we have conducted these activities 6 times, with lectures by local activists and Zoom meetings for interacting with Italian students from the University of Bergamo and other youth.
