PURPOSE OF FOUNDATIONAmani ya Africa is a support organization for exchange with Africa which was founded in Sendai by a woman who visited the Kenyan region of Kibara during a trip in 1998. She thought that she wanted to do something to support the people who were living in a difficult environment were doing their best to live wonderful, fulfilling lives, inspired by her encounter with children who were living in absolute poverty in an area where the helping hand of the government would not reach, and where the international community had no interest in war refugees.
INTRODUCTIONAmani ya Africa means Peace in Africa in Swahili. We aim to serve as a bridge between Africa and Japan which benefits both the environment and people alike so that world peace can be achieved. Our activities are based on the 3 pillars of educational support, support to achieve financial independence, and cultural exchange which will all help those who continue to live in poverty in Kenya. There are high school students, working adults, and the elderly who participate in our activities.
PROur organization is one of but a few in Tohoku and Miyagi which acts to support Africa. If you are interested in learning more about us, please see our website.
