PURPOSE OF FOUNDATIONWe aim to contribute to world peace and deepen mutual understanding.
INTRODUCTIONEstablished in 1956 as the Japan-USSR Society with Ichiro Hatoyama as Chairperson, our Society changed its name to the Japan-Eurasia Society in 1992. In order to realize the sister city agreement between Sendai and Minsk in 1973, the Prefectural Union sent an independent delegation to the city of Minsk in 1971to work towards the establishment of relations. Our sister organizations include Euras Tours, Tokyo Russian Language Academy, Institute of Eurasian Studies, and the Japan-Russia Language Information Library. Our Society conducts cultural exchanges with friendship groups in all countries of the former Soviet Union, and holds lectures, study groups, exchange meetings, movie nights, Russian language classes, and a wide variety of other activities.
PRWe wish to deepen understanding of Russia and other countries (15 countries of the former Soviet Union) and become friends with international students (mainly living in Sendai, Miyagi, and Tohoku) from different countries! We also hold Eurasian movie screenings, Eurasian exchange and cuisine meetings, bazaars, and Russian language classes.
