Special Cash Payments (特別定額給付金について)

In order to help everyone’s livelihoods, the government of Japan has decided to give everyone “Special Cash Payments (money for livelihood).”

【Eligible Persons】

Those registered as a resident on April 27, 2020 (reference date).
※Foreign residents are also eligible.

【Payment Amount (money received)】

100,000 yen per person
※The head of household will receive the total consolidated Payment amount.

【How to Apply】

1. By post
The City of Sendai will send documents required for application to households.
※In the case of families, only the head of the household will receive the application.

Within the posted documents, you will find the application form. The head of household who is applying needs to attach a copy of their residence card, driver’s license or other form of personal identification, as well as a copy of their passbook, etc. in order to receive the money by bank deposit. These documents must then be mailed together with the application.


2. Online
To apply online you must have a “My Number” card. (Not the paper-based notification card.) Please apply by the post method if you do not have a My Number card.

【How Money is Received】

Money will be deposited to the bank account of the head of household.
Bank transfers can only be made to Japanese bank accounts or JAPAN POST (Yucho) accounts. Bank transfers cannot be made to overseas bank accounts.

【How to Fill Out Application Form】

Please take care filling out the application form and refer to the “How to Fill Out Application Form” when applying by post.
Money will be received later than the standard date if there are mistakes in your application.

1. Post applications
May 26 (Tue.), 2020, to August 26 (Wed.), 2020 (applications postmarked with the deadline date will be accepted.)
※Application forms will be posted in sequential order from May 25 to early-June.
※Deposit of the funds to the applicant’s account will start, in sequential order, from early-June.

For Those who have fled their household due to domestic violence (DV) by a spouse

When fulfilling the required conditions, even those who have fled from a spouse and are currently living somewhere they are not registered, can receive the documents necessary to apply for cash payments (money from the national government) at a location which is different from their registered address.
Procedures are required in order to receive these documents at a location which is different from a registered address. If possible, please take care of procedures by April 30.

① Those under a protective order from court
② Those who have consulted with a consultation center for women or other facility
③ Those whose information in the Basic Resident Register is restricted from being viewed

For those who require the cash payments immediately

※Application Period Closed

An online application form can be downloaded from the official Sendai City website for households affected by a drastically reduced salary (incomes) who require the special cash payments immediately.

【How to apply】

Download and print the application form from the Official Sendai City website.
The head of household who is applying needs to fill out all of the required information and attach a copy of their residence card, driver’s license or other form of personal identification, as well as a copy of their bank book, etc. in order to receive the money by bank deposit. These documents must then be mailed together with the application. (The cost of the envelope and post fee is to be paid by the applicant.)
