Sendai City’s Public Schools are Closed Until Sunday, May 31st, 2020

Sendai City’s Public Schools (Elementary, Junior High and High Schools, etc.) are Closed Until Sunday, May 31st, 2020

Sendai city’s public school closure will be extended from Wednesday May 6th to Sunday May 31st in order to prevent both contraction of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as individuals, and spread of the virus.
Further Details will be provided by your child’s school.

*Opening ceremonies are scheduled to be held on June 1st (Mon.).
*Entrance Ceremonies are scheduled to be held on June 1st (Mon.) or at a later date.

During the school closure, children whose guardians are unable to take care of them due to work or similar reasons, can go to their schools or children’s clubs.
To find out if your child is eligible or the time that children can go to schools or children’s clubs, please visit Sendai City’s Official Website.

*Parents and guardians will be contacted by the child’s school about learning at home.
*There may be days during the school closure where children will have to go to school.
